When you’re recording videos – whether it’s a corporate video, blog video, real estate video, training video or any sort of video production – what you wear when you’re on camera has a big effect on how people perceive you, and what you say is going to be received differently depending on how you’re perceived. So be perceived well, and be received well.
Now you’ve got to consider your production’s target audience here, the audience for your video. Do they respect formal business attire, or something casual? Do you want to seem fun or serious? If engaging a video production company, you can work with them to make sure your outfit matches the desired outcome. Your outfit is an important part of your video marketing!
Regardless of the audience, 9 times out of 10 you don’t want your clothing to draw focus from your message, but instead support the message – so branded clothing or business attire should do just fine. Keep it to neutral colours, nothing too bright or dark, and no slogans, we don’t want rubbish written across your shirt, because by the time you’ve said what you had to say, all they’ll take away from that is rubbish.
There’s one more aspect that’s important to consider for your video production, and that is to ‘watch the patterns’. Tight checks and stripes don’t play nice with the cameras, and can result in the dreaded ‘screen door’, or ‘moire’ effect.
