LinkedIn Video Advertising

LinkedIn has finally joined other online platforms by offering another approach to profit — it will soon offer video advertising.
Several hundred companies are currently involved in the initial test group, and LinkedIn said it plans to make video for sponsored content available to all brands in the first half of 2018.
These new video ads will initially debut on mobile, with desktop to be added “in the near future.”
LinkedIn, which is now owned by Microsoft, is at long last pushing into video marketing. The videos will play in the users feed and will autoplay without sound or with sound when clicked.
They have has been slow to push into video and only started letting users upload videos in posts in August, something other social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have been doing for ages. LinkedIn advises that their new video posts are shared 20 times more frequently than other types of posts.
LinkedIn’s reason to finally offer video marketing to their clients is easy to understand given the success of their recent video posts option and the huge worldwide swing to videos on websites and in marketing.
But LinkedIn also has a different business than those other networks. while others rely almost exclusively on advertising for revenue, LinkedIn also makes money from LinkedIn learning, selling subscriptions and special features for recruiters. Advertising was just 18% of the company’s revenue before it was acquired by Microsoft. Now with video advertising, LinkedIn is set to increase its advertising revenue dramatically.
To compete in today’s corporate digital advertising market, video ads must stand out, they must look professional and as they can autoplay, they must get to the point with text that quickly tells the story.
